Hi everyone, I have suffers of sinus infection and sinus terrible headache since 2007, I even had surgery, because I couldn't deal with the terrible headache(surgery did not work), anyway use onion as decongestant, chop a whole onion and boil it on water and inhale all the vapor (cover your head with a towel), everything will come out. And to finish with the infection get the Beetroot, boil it in water and then use the nail-med bottle with the colored warm water after boiling the beetroot and pour it inside your nose and let it go through you nose, trills and out of your mouth, do it a couple days.

Since November 2009 as of today march 2010 I have had several colds but no sinus infection. I think I'm finally cured. I hope it helps.

Super-Charging You Neti Pot

You can kill oooodles of bacteria and fungus While you rinse if you use an anti-microbial to flush with instead of just a saline solution. This will get rid of the problem of causing infections by rinsing. This is some stuff called Super Neti Juice by a company called Nature's Rite that I found. It kills the bacteria and fungus. Seems to me like this is a way better way to go that just saline. Heck... Bacteria and Fungi love saline. It's what your body looks like.

I don't understand why more people aren’t using this stuff. I knocked out a sinus infection in 2 days with this stuff. 2 days. That's a new record for me and I'm always looking for the best stuff.

NeilMed Sinus Packet and Netipot

I saw a lot of users saying that NeilMed sinuspakts did the trick for them and remembered that my hubby bought a netipot because he watched Dr Oz and thought it as neat and wanted to try it, lmao. It came with 50 packets of NeilMed Sinus and the pot itself. WOW does it work wonders! It didn't cost much at all (I know cause hubby doesn't like spending money, lmao) and it cleared out all of the ouchy causing stuff from my sinus infection. After using the pot I felt like myself again and the pain is gone. I still have a bit of blockage in my right ear but I'm hoping that continued usage of the netipot with the NeilMed Sinus rinse will make a world of difference!

Sinus Remedy

For 3 years I've had seasonal sinus issues. For weeks at a time, I had a brain fog and feeling like I can't breath. Cronic sneezing with dried blood in the mucus. (Sorry to be so graphic). I tried nasal sprays and inhaling a peroxide water solution. It didn't work. I found this site and combined some of the things I read here and finally got relief. This is what knocked it out for me and my brother too who tried it later:
The sinus infection was cleared by the 4th day.
You should notice some relief after the first day.
Buy a Neti pot if you don't have one.
Put into the Pot the following ingredients.
1/2 tsp.or 15-20 drops of Benodine (or generic equivalent, Povidone Iodine)
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1 or 2 capfuls of hydrogen peroxide
Fill the rest of the pot with warm
water and pour this mixture through your
nostrils into your sinus cavities. Use about
1/2 of the contents in one nostril, and the other
half of the liquid in the other nostril.
I used this flush in my Neti pot 2 to 4 times a day for about 4 days. I even brought it to work with me. It only takes a minute or two to put it through your sinuses. There is a little discomfort but you will get used to it and it's well worth it.
You can start with just the
salt water first (without the two anticeptics until you get used to the process). Then the next time you do it, add the Benodine and you can add the Peroxide later maybe after the 3rd or 4th flush if you don't feel improvement right away. My infection had been festering so long, when I added the peroxide on the 2nd day, it finally did the trick. Stay with it. It's a flush and not a topical and most of its potency is gone as soon as it passes through your sinuses. Do not swallow when you do the Neti pot. If the liquid leaks down into your throat, spit it out. It won't hurt you if some of it does get swallowed, but try not to swallow. It takes diligence to do this flush a few times a day, but it does work.

It will sting and burn a little, but it did take out my infection in about 3 to 4 days. I could feel my inner ears itching after I used this flush on the 3rd day. I could tell that the infection was subsiding. By the 4th day I stopped after my morning Neti pot flush, and I have not had to do it since. What I was left with were the symptoms of getting over a sinus cold.
For a day or two afterward, I was blowing my nose and clearing my throat. So far it hasn't come back and this is the second week since I did the flush. The mucus from my sinuses is running clear and looks normal. What a relief.

oil of oregano

Had a bad sinus, and was going through natural remedies for sinus at this web site. It occurred to me why not try using "oil of oregano" in neti because I had it at home so I did (one dropper in one cup). My sinus was improved about 60-70% right away and eyes could open. I am planning to do neti with it for 2-3 times and add 3 drops in a glass of water and take it 3-4 times today.

Half-Pint Whiskey

My father-in-law (Jim) said that back in the 1950's, his sinus problems were being treated by a doctor and nothing worked. The doctor told him he had one other thing to try, but would call him a liar if he told anyone. He said to drink a half-pint of whiskey and go to bed. Jim said within 30 minutes he heard a tearing sound like cloth being ripped and the river started flowing.

Sinus Clearing Steam/Tea

If you need major sinus decongestion, try this home remedy. It has worked wonders for me.

- put 3-4 cloves of minced garlic and 3-4 dashes of cayenne pepper in a medium sized boil
- fill the bowl with 2 cups of boiling water
- put the bowl on a table; lean over the bowl with a towel over your head and inhale the steam for about 10 minutes
- after the 10 minutes of steam inhalation, stir the contents of the bowl and sip the mixture like a soup or a tea, making sure to breathe deeply with each sip.

After you finish, you should feel a lot less congested and be able to breathe much better.

OMG it did work....

Well like most of you folks I have been looking on the net for some remedies and came across this site and the best part is the rating system which made it very practical. With my gums pounding with my heart beat and breathing with my mouth decided to try some mix of the recipes that had good ratings.
Here is what I did took some white vinegar, salt and water mix till it tastes good like some base for a soup. then I mixed some hydrogenperoxide the ones you get off the counter and added betadine it made a light colored solution, microwaved it to make it warm.
I used a syringe and squirted it up my nose it felt like a slight burning sensation and the liquid had not gone far inside. I did a few sit-ups that unblocks the nose for a few seconds, the nI squirted and sucked it in..... my nose head and eyes were like on fire and a lot of gremilnins came our tried the same on the other side.... what a feeling the burning felt terrible like the head was on fire but I am able to breath with my nose now.... Now I can get some sleep. I had to write this now and to thank all the people who had posted the remedies which has helped me... will try a few more times during the day to see its effectiveness. Afrin, astelin and flownase did not work in unblocking the nose and I can hear my typing on the keyboard now....

The Wonder of Thyme

After a week in agony, coughing, cannot breathe out of either side of the nose, I asked my friend at the health market I shop at if there was anything at all besides a Neti pot that could help break up the tight congestion in the sinus, and the chest. Get some Thyme Oil, it is concentrated, small bottle, put it in a bowl of hot steaming water, at least 6 or 8 drops, cover head and bowl with a towel to let steam get into your system. Fifteen minutes and believe it or not you can breathe! That tight chest, relieved, and you can use Lavender or Eucalyptus oil too, one at a time of course, to see what works best for you. Using a steamer at night cuts mucus in half, and putting any of these oils in works even better. So simple, but oh so powerful. The wonder of nature, natural is the best.

Drink drink drink

Get your favorite drink or beverage and drink it in little sips. What this does is it makes the muscles in your throat and sinuses areas thus draining the fluids and mucus out of your sinuses, it may take a while.

Nasal Congestion Cure

This is probably not the right way to cure this but it sure works! Use the NeilMed bottle with saline solution as posted on this site, have tissues handy at sink-you will need them, tipping head down into sink flush left and right nostrils by squeezing bottle alternating back @ forth between the two. Now blow your nose and tip your head back looking at ceiling squirt 2-3 drops of Afrin nasal spray into left nostril and repeat flushing technique, now do the same with the right nostril. Keep doing this and blowing your nose.
If this doesn't work lay on your bed staring at ceiling put the nose drops in each nostril and let it "soak" for a few minutes and get up and repeat the sequence. Afrin is not meant to be used this way and I am not sure it's ok to do so-so do at your own risk.
This works great for the common cold and is painless-not sure though with a sinus infection. If this doesn't clear you up call the coroner!
